VINEGAR HILL, NC (WWAY) — South Columbus lost to St. Pauls in football in 2013. The Stallions also lost to St. Pauls in 2014. With revenge on their minds the South Columbus Stallions beat St. Pauls last Friday 41-6. We were so impressed that we made South Columbus the WWAY-Logo Shoppe Team of the Week.
“I feel like that was the best game that our team played all season because our team is finally coming together as a team,” Carlos McClure told us. Which was the best touchdown in the game? “I think the best one was mine. I just did a little route. They threw it to me and I had someone trying to me down by pulling on my shirt. I could not let them take me down, I was too close to the endzone.”
The Stallions also had more than their fair share of impressive defensive plays in their 41 to 6 win over St. Pauls.
Kyle Hutchison is the South Columbus head coach. “We did not turn the ball over,” Hutchison told WWAY. “What showed was we had two hundred yard rushers. They both scored touchdowns. Defensively they played together as team compared to other games and that is what I am proud of.”
“It felt great I was out for revenge,” Brennan Ivey said. “We have a festival in Tabor City called the Yam Festival. It was Yam Festival weekend so the winner of the game is presented a trophy called the Yam Bowl.” Did you taste any yams afterwards? No sir, I didn’t.”
How can you not taste the yams ? Regardless, let’s yam it up for this week’s WWAY-Logo Shoppe Team of the Week, the South Columbus Stallions.
