In fact Mason had to face former New Hanover standout Ridell Camidge, former CFCC standout Anthony VanHook and the rest of the Charlotte 49ers.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – Allonzo Trier scored 27 points, Ryan Anderson added 17 and No. 13 Arizona pulled away late to beat Fresno State 85-72 Wednesday night.

Arizona (8-1) had a hard time shaking Fresno State, allowing the Bulldogs to hang close until the closing minutes.

But Gabe York hit a pair of big 3-pointers – one banked in – and Trier made four free throws down the stretch to extend the nation’s longest home winning streak to 43 games.

Fresno State (6-3) held its composure in one of college basketball’s toughest environments, staying within reach well into the second half behind Marvelle Harris.

Harris had 23 points and Paul Watson added 14 for the Bulldogs in their second close loss to a Top 25 team this season.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Chris Clemons made six 3-pointers and scored 26 points and Campbell won its fourth straight, beating Charlotte 76-70 on Wednesday night.

Campbell (5-2) never trailed and built a 13-point lead that Charlotte (1-8) cut to 37-34 by halftime. The Camels led by 10, 59-49, with 11:49 remaining.

Four times in the final 6:30 the 49ers came within one point, the final time on their final basket, a 3-pointer by Andrien White with 3:15 left. But Charlotte missed its last eight shots while D.J. Mason made two baskets and Shane Whitfield a free throw for Campbell.

Clemons, a freshman guard, has scored in double figures in all seven Campbell games. Mason added 16 points.

Braxton Ogbueze, who had five 3-pointers, led Charlotte with 24 points with Jon Davis adding 19.

Charlotte dropped its sixth straight. The 49ers had won the previous three games in the series, though the last matchup came in 1983.

CONWAY, SC (AP) – Elijah Wilson made four 3-pointers and scored 22 points to help Coastal Carolina beat Division III member North Carolina Wesleyan 98-73 on Wednesday night.

Jaylen Shaw added 18 points with seven assists for Coastal Carolina (5-4). Badou Diagne had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Chanticleers, who went to the free-throw line 35 times compared to Wesleyan’s eight attempts.

Coastal Carolina led by just five points late in the first half before Shivaughn Wiggins’ 4-point play started a 14-6 spurt to extend its lead to 44-31.

Wesleyan pulled to 59-51 midway through the second half, but Coastal Carolina went on a 12-0 run for a 20-point advantage with 8:33 remaining.

D.J. Weaver made a season-high seven 3-pointers and led Wesleyan with 23 points. Devontae Williams added 14 points and Adrian Moore had 11.

Twelve of Wesleyan’s 28 field goals were from 3-point range.
