NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Closures on a New Hanover County road begin Monday as crews begin replacing a pipe that will ultimately help reduce flooding in the area.
An email from the NC DOT said Blue Clay Road, less than half a mile north of Kerr Avenue, will be closed in both directions. The closure, which is expected to last through Friday March 11, will go on each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The email said maintenance crews will replace an existing pipe with concrete culvert, to help reduce flooding upstream and reduce possibility of water going above the road during severe rain.
Both Kerr Avenue and College Road will serve as detour routes during the road closure.
