BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Public Utilities issued a Boil Water Advisory for some customers who are experiencing water outages or pressure problems Wednesday.

The advisory includes customers from the intersection of US 17 and NC 87 and US 17 at Bell Swamp toward the county line near Leland. A utilities spokesman said customers in the areas of Northwest, Leland, Sandy Creek, Navassa, and Belville may also experience problems.

A main line rupture near the Northwest Water Treatment Plant caused the issues. Brunswick County Public Utilities and the Division of Water Resources is asking that consumers boil all water used for human consumption.

A Brunswick County Schools spokeswoman said some schools were also seeing problems, including North Brunswick High School, Leland Middle School, Town Creek Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Belville Elementary.

According to H2Go, which also serves parts of northern Brunswick County, only its customers in Compass Pointe are affected by the advisory.
