WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The color green filled Front Street today in Wilmington for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
The parade kicked off at 11 a.m. and the weather couldn’t have been better for it.
Warm and sunny weather conditions attracted hundreds down to see all the St. Patrick’s Day float.
This is the 16th year the event has been happening, but for Ken Turbyfill this was his first.
“Everything was wonderful, but I really like the antique cars and the motorcycles,” said Turbyfill. “It was great.”
Brayden Tomsich says he enjoyed getting all the candy and necklaces that were passed out. He also said he enjoyed seeing the firetrucks and had a fun time with his family.
Following the parade, the festival began with live music and traditional Irish dancing. Craft, food, and beverage vendors served up a good time at Riverfront Park until 6 p.m.
St. Patrick’s Day is on Thursday, March 17.
