GREENVILLE, NC (UNCW) — Junior pitcher Jacob Wolfe gave East Carolina a strong 6.1 innings on the mound and Eric Tyler added four hits as the Pirates dealt UNCW an 9-6 loss on Tuesday at LeClair Stadium.
The Pirates improved to 17-8 with the win while the Seahawks dropped to 15-7 after having their six-game winning streak halted.
Wolfe (3-2) picked up the win, finishing with five strikeouts and no walks. At one point the lefthander nine straight Seahawks between the third and sixth innings.
Joe Ingle nailed down his fifth save of the season.
Parker Lamm, Travis Watkins and Zack Mozingo each had two-hit games for ECU.
Justin Crump (1-1) took the loss for UNCW, surrendering four runs on five hits over 2.2 innings.

How it happened: East Carolina built a 6-1 lead through four innings and never looked back. The Pirates pushed three across in the second as Crump opened the inning with a hit batter, a walk and a single. All three hitters scored.
Notes: The Seahawks fell to 0-5 on the road this season … Nick Feight extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a two-run double in the eighth inning … Daniel Stack had hit hitting streak halted at nine games … Steven Linkous notched his 10th multiple hit game of the season and the 41st of his career.
