WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Eugene Philyaw house is a combination of two styles, Colonial Revival and Queen Anne.
Built in 1910, it sits at 1802 Market Street. The simple yet commanding house on the Azalea Festival Home Tour was in disrepair a few years ago.
The former owners, however, revamped it adding some flair with fancy chandeliers, and convenience with a new kitchen.
When the current owners, the Yinglings saw it, they say they it was just “wow.”
“And we both, as soon as we walked through the backdoor to see the kitchen, we both just looked at each other and went, ‘Oh, my gosh,’ and from that point on, it just got better, and better and better,”
The renovation received a Historic Wilmington Foundation Rehabilitation award in 2015.
The Azalea Festival Home Tour runs Saturday and Sunday.
