WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man pleaded guilty today to a shooting at a hotel last year.
According to a news release from the district attorney’s office, Sharod Jamar Bryant, 25 , pleaded guilty today in New Hanover County Superior Court to Attempted First Degree Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Second Degree Kidnapping, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, for his involvement in the robbery of Kimberly Murray and shooting of Glenn Cameron at the Red Roof Inn on February 23, 2015.
Authorities say Bryant appeared at Ms. Murray’s room, pointed a handgun at her chest and stole her wallet and cell phone. When Mr. Cameron was returning to the room after hearing Ms. Murray’s screams, Bryant shot him in the torso. As a result of the shooting, Mr. Cameron is paralyzed
from the waist down.
Bryant was apprehended within minutes of the shooting and arrested.
Judge Ebern T. Watson sentenced Bryant to 16-21 years in the Department of Adult Correction.
