WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some Wilmington businesses are joining together to create a very special prom night for a Beau’s Coffee Shop employee and his date.
Yesterday, we showed you their prom-posal video that went viral.
“Of course, I jumped on it to watch it and probably had the same reaction to it that everyone else had,” Camille’s Prom store co-owner Joanne Miranda said.
Miranda watched as Lillie asked Beau’s Coffee Shop employee Trevor to prom.
“It was just moving,” Miranda said.
Then, Miranda shared the video and proposed an idea.
“Right away, I was like, well, we’ve been fortunate enough to give tuxes to some other young gentlemen,” Miranda said. “Why not offer it up to him to?”
Design a Dream Events Owner Jana Ingraham saw Miranda’s Facebook post and the ideas started spinning.
“Why not run with this and make it even bigger and make this like a huge event for them?” Ingraham said.
Within 12 hours, she had a plan and almost a dozen vendors on board.
“Take them around the day on an excursion in an adventurous kind of way,” Ingraham said.
To start, a limo will pick them up.
“We go get his hair done and her hair and make up done,” Ingraham said.
Then, they will have lunch.
“They get pictures together,” Ingraham said. “From there, British Taxi is going to take them to Prom in one of their vintage cars.”
It is a once in a lifetime experience that Ingraham said everyone should get to experience.
“Prom is something you always remember,” Ingraham said. “For everybody, whether it was a good experience or a bad experience, prom is prom.”
At the end of the day, Ingraham hopes they take away something a little more than that.
“Just to always pay it forward and give back,” Ingraham said. “I mean we’re a community that needs to be kind and love each other. We’re a world that can be all about the bad things sometimes, so it’s nice to highlight the good things that happen around here too.”
Ingraham said she still has some details to work out before prom on May 7. She said they also have a photographer and videographer on board to document the whole thing.
