WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 15th annual “Fairy Garden” Azalea Festival Children’s Tea took place downtown today to get everyone excited about the Azalea Festival in two weeks.

The event benefits the Cape Fear Volunteer Center. Volunteer Center Director Annie Anthony said it is a day for all of the the Azalea Belles, Azalea princess and her court and special guests, and fairies to practice etiquette, drink tea, and spend the day getting pampered.

“This gets it all started,” Anthony said. “The belles get used to wearing their dresses. The princesses dust off their crowns and the little girls get to come and just enjoy being with them and dream about the day they’ll be the belles and they’ll be the princesses.”

The Azalea Festival is April 5 – 9.
