WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Take a deep breath and feel that clean air in your lungs.
According to the American Lung Association’s 2017 state of the air report, Wilmington was listed as one of the cleanest cities in the United States.
Five cities have repeated their ranking on this list, but Wilmington, joins this list for the first time.
To some, this is a major selling point to come to Wilmington.
“Quality of life is big. Not only do we have good jobs, good schools, good opportunities for recreation, but it’s also those other public health benefits of clean air, clean water, clean soil. Yes it does attract them to areas like this and I can’t blame them,” Phillip Tarte, New Hanover County Public Health director, said.
New Hanover county’s health department says they aim to keep up this record, as they tackle other public health endeavors.
