WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Tonight high school basketball players from our area got the unique opportunity to play against some of the best players from the NCAA in the ACC Barnstorming Tour.
Not many times do you get to line up face to face against guys like Kennedy Meeks and Nate Britt from the National Champion North Carolina Tar Heels, but that’s exactly what players from our area got to do Thursday night.
“It’s awesome to play in front of all my friends, fans during the season and family and it’s just a huge honor.” Ashley Senior Bryston Davis said.
“Honestly it’s a very humbling experience,” New Hanover Senior Blake Smith said. “I’m glad we get to host all these guys and some of them going into the draft.”
The Barnstorming game took place at New Hanover High School, a place that former Hoggard graduate Stilman White is used to playing in.
“My favorite game to play in high school every year was New Hanover at Brogden Hall, so it’s awesome to be able to come here.” White said.
The goal of the event was to give fans the chance to see some of the best of the ACC. But it’s also a chance for these high school seniors to have fun and hear the lessons these proven stars are willing to offer.
“Just keep your head up and keep at it. The opportunity is there you just have to execute and work hard to get there.”
