WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We have an inside look at the architecture and design of Eagle Point Golf Club ahead of the Wells Fargo Championship.
Very few people, except the Club’s 450 members and guests, have ever had the opportunity to view and tour the club, so its charm has been a well-kept secret.
Ian Johnston is the architect that designed all 15 buildings on the property. Johnston said it took about 19 years to complete. He said the most recent building constructed was the fitness center. It was finished in October.
“Eagle Point Golf Club is unique in that it is sited in a heavily forested, natural setting with no homes abutting the course,” Johnston said.
Johnston said he is excited to see the golf club in the spotlight next week.
“It’s going to be very interesting to see this building as an international sports focus,” Johnston said. “We knew it would be a very successful club when we designed it with the expectations of the members. You know we modeled this club after the great, some of the great golf cubs on the atlantic coast.”
Johnston said Eagle Point Golf Club is the most significant private project he and his father ever designed together and the first and only golf club facility.
