BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY)– A Clarkton man is wanted for murder.
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office has warrants for the arrest of Harold Eugene Swindell, 47.
He will be charged with first degree murder in the death of Lonnie Level Smith, 38.
Smith was shot in the parking lot of Oakdale Homes on Wednesday night. Deputies say a weapon discharged during the fight. Smith died at the hospital.
SIn a news release, Sheriff James A. McVicker said investigators spoke with several witnesses who gave statements concerning what led to the shooting. They aren’t sure what started the argument but believe it involved several people.
As well as a murder charge, Swindell will also be charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
“We have reason to believe Swindell is still in the state and we are asking anyone with any information on his location to please contact us at (910) 862-6960,” said Sheriff McVicker.
McVicker says Swindell should be considered armed and dangerous.
