2-year-old shot, killed with gun found in NC home

READ MORE:
SANFORD, N.C. -- Police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy who was shot in the head after a gun was left unsecured in his central North Carolina home. Sanford Police Department spokesman Capt. David Smith said officers responded to a call from a home in Sanford Wednesday morning and found the child suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. Smith said the boy's mother, Melanie Tyson, and two other children, a 4-year-old and another toddler, were in the home at the time. Police are still investigating the incident and say it isn't clear if the 2-year-old, whose name has not been released, accidentally shot himself or if one of the other children shot him. No phone number is listed for the child's parents. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

another child dies! WAKE UP PARENTS!

Whats with people now a days? Last week a 3 year old shot himself in the head with a gun thta he found on a end stand and died. Now a week later a 2 year old? %$%^ people! There is NO EXCUSE for this. Guns a) need to be locked up b)Need to have trigger locks on them c) DO NOT NEED TO BE LOADED! I dont even let guns in my home but I understand how some people like guns but then damn it take it seriously and PROTECT YOUR KIDS AND MINE. I'm afraid to let my kid visit a freind in fear that his friends parents may have a gun available . I feal for the family . I really do . Hoever there is No reason for this. Sorry But when this happens the parents NEED TO BE CHARGED . I understand their loss but the fact is Thier child is DEAD because of THEM. Maybe if more parents where actuallyt tried and convicted people may wake up and protect kids..

tragedy...

If you own firearms you MUST secure them. Its a right that brings serious responsibility. Gun safes & cabinets are widely available & many of them are inexpensive. There is no excuse for this type of horror when an inexpensive storage unit is for sale at many different stores in the Sanford area.

When will people learn not

When will people learn not to leave their guns where their children can find them? This happens entirely too often.
