BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- The three lawsuits against the Brunswick County school board were dismissed Friday, but they will be re-filed. Attorney Robert Tatum represents Dennis and Betty Hager and two other sets of parents. Tatum says the school board's attorney filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuits based on "sovereign immunity," which shields a school board from liability. Tatum says that opened up the door to file additional claims against the school board but the school board's attorney wanted to fight those amendments. So Tatum dropped the original lawsuits. He plans to re-file new ones on Monday.
