7-year-old plays Santa Claus to sick kids

CHARLOTTE -- Last year, Katie Greene got the idea that she could give Christmas toys to sick kids all around the world. The Charlotte Observer reports that Katie's parents talked her into starting small, and in 2007, she raised $167 and delivered two bags of toys to Levine Children's Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center. On Monday, the 7-year-old first-grader and her parents brought boxes stuffed with more than 600 toys to the hospital, where they'll be delivered to patients on Christmas Day. She bought the presents with more than $2,600 she raised from family, friends and through her own Web site called Katies Kidz. Katie said next year, she plans to do two hospitals.
