College offers cloned Venus Flytraps to Alderman Park

Help could be on the way for Alderman Park after more than 1,000 Venus Flytraps were poached last week. Southeastern Community College has offered some of its cloned Venus Flytraps plants to replenish the breed at the Stanley Rehder Garden in Wilmington.

The New Hanover County Historic Courthouse was standing-room-only during the New Hanover County Commissioners meeting Monday night. Representatives from groups requesting alterations in the 2013- 2014 fiscal year’s proposed budget filled the room, attempting convince the Board to make room in the county’s budget for their cause.

A woman is looking for answers after she says her son died because of mistakes made while treating him. A Dosher Memorial Hospital report says Mark Stephens had no history of diabetes although his mother has records that she he was treated at the hospital multiple times for the disease.
