Republicans in the General Assembly will need some help from across the aisle to override Gov. Bev Perdue's veto of the state budget, and it looks like they may already have half the votes they need from our area.

DA's interns drink to learn

Census shows Wilmington still on the grow

Despite its slow recovery from the Great Recession, Wilmington continues to grow. The Port City’s population grew 1.7 percent, to 108,297 residents, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates.

Blazing temperatures could impact Southport festival activities

The annual NC 4th of July Festival kicks off tomorrow in Southport with a slew of different activities, including a firefighter's competition. Though they won't be fighting any fire, they will be battling some extreme heat all afternoon.
