Rabid fox bites three in Oak Island

The Brunswick County Health Department says a man was working in his yard Sunday and felt something brush up against him and bite him. He looked down and saw it was a fox. The fox then ran to his neighbor's garage, where a husband and wife were working. The fox attacked the wife and bit her three times. It then bit the husband once.

A North Carolina appeals court is upholding the first-degree murder conviction of a former Camp Lejeune Marine who killed his pregnant colleague, then burned and buried her body in his backyard.

Wilmington's Lavin gets another Tony nomination

Wilmington's Linda Lavin has earned another Tony Award Nomination. The 74-year-old, who owns and operates the Red Barn Studio Theatre at 3rd and Marstellar Streets with her husband, is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her performance in "The Lyons."

N. Topsail Beach uses sandbags to combat severe erosion

video Topsail Reef is at the mercy of Mother Nature. The eight buildings, housing 240 homes needed protection from some major erosion, caused by a combination of Hurricane Irene, winter storms and high tides. The condo complex elected to have sandbags installed as a temporary fix.
