Wilmington considering Ripken Design to manage baseball project

video The city's effort to bring a baseball stadium to the Port City now includes another big hitter. Wilmington City Manager Sterling Cheatham proposes the city should hire Ripken Design, founded by Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. and his brother Bill, to manage Wilmington’s baseball project.

Free street parking downtown for Azalea Festival

The city's downtown on-street parking will be free starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 13, and all day on Saturday, April 14 for Azalea Festival activities. Parking will be free in the Central Business District, which extends from Ann to Brunswick streets and from Water and Nutt to Fourth streets. On-street parking is always free on Sundays. Signs will be posted to alert visitors about the free parking.

Jordan Brand Classic tips off Saturday

New Hanover High School will be well represented in Charlotte on Saturday at the 11th Annual Jordan Brand Classic. The showcase event will be held at the home of the NBA Charlotte Bobcats. Wildcat senior Kadeem Allen will play on the NC East Regional team. Wildcat head coach Kirk Angel and Millbrook coach Scott McInnis will be the co-coaches of Allen's squad.
