video The debate on whether to ban smoking continued tonight at the Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen meeting. Supporters of the ban got one step closer to reaching their dream of a butt free beach. A group supporting the smoking ban presented the board with a stack of signed petitions.

Just one day after Mandalay Baseball Properties and the Atlanta Braves announced they had secured private financing to build a new baseball stadium in Wilmington, City Manager Sterling Cheatham has drawn up a proposal to hire Ripken Design of Baltimore, MD, to manage the city's baseball project manager.

From bridge repairs to resurfacing roads, there's a lot of work going on right now. One big project that's halfway done is expected to relieve congestion between Wilmington and Leland.

Protestors rally outside circus

A group of protestors rallied near the airport this afternoon as advocates of the animals at the circus. They say the animals involved in the circus this weekend are constantly abused and mistreated. They want people to know that cruelty is not entertainment.

Wilmington looks to Hall of Famer Ripken to lead ballpark project
