Congressman Mike McIntyre presented a check to the airport for almost $2.5 million Wednesday.

The town's five commissioners voted unanimously to ban cabanas from the seven-mile strand of beach.

A group called the Fire Department of New York-Carolina retirees association started a four-hour motorcade in 2002.

With Wilmington under a stage-one water conservation alert, the city is doing its part by recycling water.
Pumps are draining the city's public pools and using the water for irrigation. The pool water is being routed to nearby sprinklers to water the grass in the parks surrounding the pools.

Thousands of people in New York are remembering victims in a park just south of what was once the World Trade Center. Authorities moved the ceremony off the original site this year because of construction work in the pit where four towers will eventually replace the World Trade Center.
