A local woman whose hobby is geared at encouraging women to dream, just had her own dream come true. April Negron of Wilmington has crafted fairy wings since she was young. Now her creations will be featured on a limited edition Wheat Thins box.

A 16-year old girl is in jail Monday. She's one of two suspects in a carjacking over the weekend. Police say a woman matching Alicia Ramos's description car-jacked a man at gunpoint on Rankin Street Sunday morning.

Strong thunderstorms wreaked havoc on the Port City this weekend, cutting connections to some vital emergency services including 911. New Hanover County's 911 Center lost six of its emergency telephone lines Saturday. Telecommunications Director Brenda Hewlett says those lines are still trying to get fixed Monday.

When a disaster like a fire strikes they jump into action. But the American Red Cross says it is in need of volunteers. Saturday the Cape Fear chapter recruited nearly 20 new volunteers. They attended training sessions, including several courses on mass care and shelter operations.

Authorities say 23-year-old Terrell Brown broke into his girlfriend Ashley Brown's house using a machete. David Simmons was staying with her in the house and the two go into a fight. Deputies say that's when Simmons shot and killed Terrel Brown.
