Hoggard coach fired after arrest for fight at school, students react

video A Hoggard High School teacher assistant and assistant football coach has been fired days after being arrested for allegedly assaulting several students at school. A New Hanover County Schools spokeswoman said Joseph Brown's termination was effective yesterday.

UNCW students recycle trash into palm trees

Some UNC Wilmington students put the idea of turning trash into treasure into practice today. Students worked together to build palm trees out of recyclable materials found around campus. The campus dining collected boxes, can lids and two-liter soda bottles to construct the trees.

Padgett doing well after kidney, pancreas transplant

Wilmington City Councilwoman Laura Padgett is recovering after undergoing a dual-organ transplant yesterday. City spokeswoman Malissa Talbert says Padgett is resting at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Maryland.
