Runner collapses during marathon, in critical condition

A man who ran yesterday's Quintiles Wrightsville Beach Marathon is in critical condition today. James Glasgow, 36, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, collapsed not far from the finish line at Mayfaire.

Cremins retires as C of C head coach

College of Charleston men's basketball head coach Bobby Cremins announced his retirement on Monday. UNCW grad Mark Byington is currently the interim head basketball coach at Charleston. Some people close to the situation speculate Byington will be named the permanent head basketball in Charleston in the near future.

Leland Police correct training issues

The Leland Police Department has fixed problems regulators found with its training and records. The police department released a letter today sent by North Carolina Department of Justice Criminal Justice Standards Division. The letter dated February 20 thanks the Leland Police Department for "correcting the deficiencies identified in the Field Audit Results report dated November 01, 2011."

Business owners worry about Oleander closure

videoPart of one of Wilmington's most traveled roads will be closed for construction work this week. Starting Monday, Oleander Drive will be shut down between Mimosa Place and Dawson Street. The Department of Transportation and CSX will work on the railroad tracks in that area causing the closure.

Sweet 16 for Wolfpack and Tar Heels

NC State defeated Georgetown 66-63 Sunday. The Wolfpack moves onto the Sweet 16 Friday in St. Louis. North Carolina also advances. The Heels beat Creighton Sunday. Former Hoggard guard Stilman White will likely see more playing time in UNC's next game. Kendall Marshall suffered a fracture of the scaphoid bone in his right wrist.
