Shallotte Police are asking for your help in finding a suspect. Johnny Ray Longworth, 48, is wanted for Breaking and Entering. Longworth has been spotted riding a bicycle with a basket on front in the Shallotte and Calabash area.

NC jobless rate for January still above 10 percent

The latest report on North Carolina's unemployment rate paints a darker picture of the state's economy. The state Commerce Department reported Tuesday that the unemployment rate in January was 10.2 percent, much higher than the national average of 8.3 percent.
