NC jobless rate for January still above 10 percent

The latest report on North Carolina's unemployment rate paints a darker picture of the state's economy. The state Commerce Department reported Tuesday that the unemployment rate in January was 10.2 percent, much higher than the national average of 8.3 percent.

A new housing report out today indicates foreclosure rates in the Wilmington area are on the rise. These figures, coming from CoreLogic, show foreclosure rates in December 2011 at just over 2 3/4%

UNCW will host WNIT game on Thursday

They're dancing again. For the second year in a row the UNC Wilmington women's basketball team earned an invitation to a post-season tournament. The Seahawks received their invite late Monday night. UNCW will host the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Thursday at Trask Coliseum in the 15th Annual Women's National Invitation Tournament. It's not the NCAA, but the WNIT is the best alternative.

City says 3rd Street will be ready for Azalea Festival

The City of Wilmington says work is on track to have 3rd Street ready through Grace Street in time for the Azalea Festival. The city says all traffic control will be removed, and the full road will be open for the Azalea Festival parade on April 14.

Brunswick detectives seize $17k worth of heroin
