New Hanover Co. plans telethon to help water customers

New Hanover County will hold a telethon later this month to help wipe the slate clean for hundreds of households without water service due to nonpayment and additional fees. The Help2Others campaign will feature a day long telethon at the New Hanover County Government Center on Saturday, March 24.

NCAA hits UNC football with 1-year postseason ban

The NCAA infractions committee has hit North Carolina's football program with a one-year postseason ban, a reduction of 15 scholarships and three years of probation following an investigation into improper benefits and academic misconduct.

Paterno lawyer: PSU trustees rushed to judgment

All-Mideastern Conference, All-District awards announced

The 2011-2012 high school basketball season is over. Postseason awards are now being passed out. A New Hanover Wildcat senior won the player of the year award in the Mideastern Conference, but a Laney Buccaneer senior won the player of the year honor for District 2.
