State champs! New Hanover wins 4-A title

videoThe New Hanover Wildcats captured the state title in 4-A basketball on Saturday night with a 67-56 victory over West Charlotte. The rich tradition continues. It's the 14th state title for the Wildcats in basketball. That's the most for any high school in North Carolina.

ACC championship game: Heels & Seminoles

The North Carolina Tar Heels earned a spot in the ACC finals with a victory over NC State on Saturday in Atlanta. UNC will face Florida State on Sunday. The Seminoles beat Duke. This is only the the second appearance for Florida State in the ACC men's basketball finals.

UNCW women's basketball team loses to nationally ranked Hens; WNIT bid next?

UNCW's run in the CAA Women's Basketball Tournament came to a crashing halt on Saturday afternoon when the Seahawks ran into the nationally ranked Delaware Blue Hens. Cynthia Cooper Dyke's team drops to 20-12 record with the loss. The Seahawks must now play the waiting game. They're hoping to receive a bid to the WNIT for the second year in a row.

Wilmington City Council to tour Durham ballpark

Wilmington City Council is making a road trip to check out life in the minor leagues. Durham Mayor Bill Bell has invited the council members to visit the Durham Bulls Athletic Park next week to hear first hand about the City of Durham's experience with development of a minor league baseball stadium and its economic impact.
