Today was a very special day for folks in Wilmington and all over the state. Fifty years ago, on October 2, 1961, the Battleship North Carolina made its way up the Cape Fear River to its new home in the Port City. Folks of all ages came out to the Battleship to celebrate, paying the same admission price visitors paid half a century ago. Full story...

Friends and family are still mourning the loss of Roger Mock Sr. The church-going 67-year-old was found dead in his Hampstead home last Wednesday. Mock Sr. was a founding member of New Life Christian Center in Holly Ridge. Saturday, the church found joy in the midst of sadness as they broke ground for a new building. Full story...

Today, a town leader came forward to talk about what she thinks needs to be done. Leland Town Councilwoman Martha Currie wants Mayor Futch to call a special meeting to discuss hiring a private investigator to look into the allegations but says Futch won't pull the trigger on the meeting.
