Matthew Lee Baber was sentenced Monday to life in prison without parole after a jury found him guilty of killing James Murdock in a 2008 drive-by shooting.

Extinct bird lives on at NC Museum of Forestry

An extinct bird came home to roost at the North Carolina Museum of Forestry this weekend. A print of James Audubon's "Carolina Parrot" is now on display at the museum in Whiteville.

In a press release sent today, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said it continues to investigate the murder of Michael Whaley. Whaley was murdered outside of his residence at 3637 Lynn Avenue on the evening of February 25, 1998. He had just left his garage, when he was shot 3 times with a shotgun
