Meeting on downtown window signs Thursday

Belville mayor not guilty of sexual battery charge

Belville Mayor Jack Batson has been cleared of criminal charges stemming from an incident at his home last fall. The 70-year-old was found not guilty of sexual battery.

Report suggests closing, curbing state attractions

The Legislature's fiscal watchdog agency says the state of North Carolina should close an Elizabeth City museum, a Kinston historic site and reduce operating hours at seven other locations to reduce operating expenses at attractions with high costs and low visitor traffic.

video Michael Jordan used to hold Laney's single game scoring record by himself. That distinction is now a shared honor. Elijah Wilson scored 42 points for Laney on Monday night in a boys basketball game against New Bern. After the game Wilson committed to play for the College of Charleston.
