A science panel advising Gov. Bev Perdue on offshore energy development says oil and gas drilling is unlikely in waters within North Carolina's authority, but the coast has some of the best East Coast locations for wind power.

In an e-mail to Peoria County, IL, Caterpillar reportedly said it wants to move the factory closer to its facility in Cary and wants better port access.
