Wilmington based race team gearin' up for 2012

A Wilmington based racing team has secured sponsorship from two companies. This will help the SCCA 1000 road racing team compete in the F1000 Championship and SE Div. SCCA National & SCCA Regional events throughout 2012.

Congressmen kick off Black History Month

video Two United States Congressmen were in Wilmington Sunday for a celebration to kick off Black History Month. North Carolina Rep. Mike McIntyre and Texas Rep. Al Green were joined by hundreds of local residents and political figures at Wilmington City Hall for the 16th annual commemoration.

Extras celebrate role in locally-shot 'A Smile as Big as the Moon'

video The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie "A Smile as Big as the Moon" debuted on WWAY Sunday night. The family film was shot in Wilmington and many of its extras are from Jacksonville. Family and friends rolled out the red carpet for their special night on Sunday.

Towson snaps 41 game losing skid against UNCW

The Towson Tigers hadn't won a men's college basketball game since December 29, 2010. The Tigers fortune changed on Saturday. Towson snapped a 41 game losing streak against the UNC Wilmington Seahawks.

Rep. Bill Faison says he's running for governor

Democratic state Rep. Bill Faison announced his bid for North Carolina governor on Saturday, saying he's the best candidate to restore education and health care jobs through his work in the Legislature and when he reaches the Executive Mansion next January.
