Investigation underway in fatal shooting at Virginia Tech

An investigation is under way into the fatal shootings today at Virginia Tech. A gunman killed a campus police officer in a school parking lot and was later found dead, with a gun nearby, in another lot.

Busload of Santa's little helpers make big donation to Toys for Tots

A bunch of elves visited the WWAY NewsChannel 3 studios today, and they didn't come empty handed. Childcare Network stopped by with a busload of Santa's little helpers. Each child brought in a toy to drop off for Toys for Tots.

Teen arrested after clerk turns tables during robbery attempt

video For the second time in a month a Wilmington store clerk has turned the tables on a would-be robber. The owner of the store says the man who allegedly tried to rob the store is "lucky to be alive."

Necropsy done on whale washed up on Carolina Beach

Judge blocks NC personal care service rules

A federal judge has blocked North Carolina's Medicaid office from implementing rules for personal care services that a lawsuit contends has led more than 2,400 people to lose paid assistance at home for things like cooking, bathing and dressing.
