video The petitions are in, and the people have spoken but the fight over annexation is far from over. The city of Wilmington and four other cities across the state have filed a lawsuit against the State of North Carolina, the North Carolina Board of Elections, and multiple county’s Board of Elections.

Could Terry Sanford and Topsail wind up in the same conference? What about Purnell Swett and Hoggard? This possibility raises loads of questions, but discussions for high school re-alignment at this time are preliminary.

video On Wednesday night we showcased highlights and the dramatic finish from the UNCW-Toledo men's basketball game. The Rockets downed the Seahawks by two points when a desperation shot at the buzzer from UNCW missed. We also featured high school basketball action from Ashley. Injured pelicans washing up on NC beaches again

Officials say pelicans with injuries similar to those seen last winter are washing up on Onslow Beach and have been reported on another beach along the southeastern North Carolina coast.

Ex-Marine charged with wife's murder under $1M bond

video A former Marine accused of killing his ex-wife is in jail under $1 million bond. New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies arrested 48-year-old Keith Waters last night for the murder of his wife Kay at their home on Hanover Avenue in Castle Hayne.

NC students headed for school year 5 days longer

The academic year for North Carolina's public school students is set to get five days longer next year. Members of the state Board of Education said Wednesday a new state law taking away teacher training time and replacing it with five more classroom days should take effect with the new school year in August.

Preacher Billy Graham admitted to NC hospital

Real estate agency's holiday bazaar benefits Teacher's Fund
