Candidate Fuller offering $1,000 reward for info on sign thief

"Yesterday, about fifty of my political yard signs were stolen near the Landfall main gate and near Autumn Hall. Also, many other candidates' signs -- Padgett, Saffo, Anderson, etc. -- also vanished overnight in this area. At 4:30am today I went to check on my signs, and I noticed this theft. I have replaced many of them."

Kite festival flies to new heights in Wrightsville Beach

It was a little too chilly to lay out on the beach this weekend, but it was perfect weather to enjoy a good kite festival. The massive, colorful kites painted the sky, while folks bundled up to enjoy the show.

Curling Club sweeps into Port City

video The Coastal Carolina Curling Club was formed a few months ago, after many in the area wanted to try out the increasingly popular sport. A majority of those in the club joined as beginners, many intrigued by the sport that first made its way into the Olympic limelight in 1998.

5th QUARTER: round one playoff scores from Friday & Saturday night

Friday turned out to be a windy, rainy night. Saturday was much nicer. First round playoff games were played on both nights. In Wilmington the New Hanover Wildcats knocked off the Hoggard Vikings. Other winners on Friday include Laney, South Brunswick, South Columbus and East Bladen. On Saturday Topsail won. Click full story for scores and the pairings for round two.

Hoggard volleyball team falls in state finals

Charlotte Providence won its fifth North Carolina High School Athletic Association volleyball championship in convincing fashion on Saturday as the Panthers rolled to a straight-set victory over Wilmington Hoggard in the 4-A final at Reynolds Coliseum.

Extra! Extra! Casting call wants them all

While One Tree Hill is exiting stage right, Iron Man 3 is preparing to set up shop in Wilmington. A production of superhero size needs a lot of extras, and Premier Casting is fattening up its database of extras to be ready for upcoming films.
