Purdue entered the final round of the Landfall Tradition with the lead. The Boilermakers kept it. They're leaving Wilmington as the champions of the Landfall Tradition women's golf tournament.

State HS football playoff pairings: New Hanover, Hoggard get rematch

video A first round state playoff matchup of Hoggard versus New Hanover highlights the schedule for the first round of the high school football state playoffs. New Hanover beat Hoggard 13-7 on Friday. The two Wilmington teams get to do it all over again. The winner will advance to round two while the losing team's season will be over.

Week 11 High school scoreboard: Wildcats top Hoggard for first time since 1995

The 2011 high school football regular season is over. Friday's action in our area undoubtedly is highlighted by New Hanover's 13-7 win over Hoggard. It's the first win for New Hanover in varsity football over Hoggard since 1995.

Police offering reward for help finding Southport bank robber

Southport Police and the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office are searching for a man who robbed the First Federal Bank in Southport Saturday just after noon. Southport Police are offering a $1,000 reward for the conviction of the suspect.

Community leader Betty Ann Sanders' life and legacy honored

Sanders, who died over a week ago in Wilmington, was a veteran broadcaster and familiar face on UNCW-TV shows "Let's Talk" and "Let's Read" as well as a long-time university supporter and volunteer.

Triathletes race from the beach to the Battleship

Around 2,000 participants jumped in the water Saturday morning. Those competing in the full iron distance swam 2.4 miles, biked 112 miles and ran 26.2 miles, a total of 140.6 miles across New Hanover County.

Would-be robber in hospital after clerk turns tables

video A robbery attempt last night went very bad for the robber. The hold-up at 13th and Dawson Streets did not have the outcome the would-be thief had planned. When a young man entered the Dawson Street Minimart he had robbery on his mind, but the clerk turned the tables. Today it had the neighborhood talking.
