Third Leland candidate drops out of council race

For the third time since mid-August a candidate for Leland Town Council has dropped out of the election. The Brunswick County Board of Elections says Kerrie Wallace withdrew today.

Wilmington woman charged with insurance fraud after faking toilet overflow

Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Stephanie Jean Holanek, 40, of 118 Trombay Drive, Wilmington; she is charged with four counts of insurance fraud, three counts of obtaining property by false pretense, and one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

WHQR hosts live candidate forum tonight

WHQR 91.3fm, along with the StarNews and WWAY will host live candidate forums tonight from 7-9 PM. The first hour of the show will be dedicated to the candidates running for Wilmington City Council. The second hour will focus on Wilmington's two mayoral candidates.
