Lives celebrated through tribute tiles at hospice center

The lives of loved ones were celebrated during a special remembrance ceremony this Saturday at a Wilmington hospice center. The event occurs twice a year at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, honoring those who died through living tribute tiles, each engraved with the name of a deceased loved one.

ILM tests emergency plan through mass casualty exercise

Several New Hanover County and Wilmington agencies participated in the response. About 50 people volunteered to be victims of the simulated plane crash, which caught on fire and separated on the tarmac at ILM. The victims role played, each assigned different injuries.

video Brunswick County Sheriff John Ingram offered his internal affairs investigator for free to look into a slew of allegations within Leland's police department, including sex at the station house, an officer pulling his gun on a colleague and an alcohol-fueled fight involving the police chief. But at last night's town meeting, council members voted against the plan.
