Brunswick Co. looking for feedback on staggered school schedules

In an effort to gather feedback on the new staggered school schedule, members of the Brunswick County Board of Education have requested parents and community members participate in a short opinion survey. This survey is anonymous. Results of the survey will be presented at the November 1, 2011 Board of Education meeting.

Memorial set for community leader Betty Ann Sanders

A memorial service for community leader and UNC Wilmington volunteer Betty Ann Sanders will be held on the UNCW campus at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 in McNeill Hall (School of Nursing building) auditorium.

UPDATE: Hillcrest victim identified

The victim in last night's suspicious death in the Hillcrest community has been identified as Anthony Lafrance Devone, d.o.b. 4-12-1970, of Wilmington. We hope to be able to confirm cause of death after receiving preliminary results from the autopsy

NRC fines GE-Hitatchi $45K over NC nuke test site

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has fined a General Electric nuclear facility in North Carolina $45,000 for what the agency said were multiple violations including management shortcomings.

Leland Town Council votes to hire new manager, shoots down another investigation

video There has been a cloud of allegations surrounding the town of Leland's police department for quite some time now. Two of the most recent include officers using the police station for sexual liaisons and an incident where one officer pointed a gun at another. The town has asked the S.B.I. to help investigate the allegations.
