The Pender County School Board is moving forward on its search for a new superintendent. The board says it received 28 applications to replace Allison Sholar, who is moving to Currituck County.

Bank robbery suspect arrested after nearly 5-hour standoff

Police say the man suspected of an armed bank robbery earlier Wednesday barricaded himself inside a duplex on Greenville Avenue. The suspect, 38-year-old Clay McArthur, was arrested after a nearly five-hour standoff.

Court hears appeal of murder conviction in police officer's death

video A Wilmington man convicted of killing a police officer appealed his second-degree murder conviction today. In February of 2009 Anthony Pierce led Wilmington Police on a chase after fleeing from an officer during a traffic stop.
