UNCW releases report into alert system failure during shooting near campus

A shooting near UNCW back in July posed a threat to students when the gunman ran through campus, but a campus safety alert system failed to notify students for hours. Today campus police finally released a report about what went wrong.

Wilmington's Casey Barth expected to sit out this weekend for UNC

Former Hoggard High School kicker Casey Barth didn't play in the second half against Virginia on Saturday in Chapel Hill due to a pulled groin. Barth is not expected to play on Saturday for UNC against Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

Murder suspect's brother arrested in Creekwood killing

video A second man has been arrested for a murder last week in the Creekwood community. Wilmington Police say Jermaine Hankins, 21, turned himself in yesterday. He is charged with first degree murder, attempted murder and first degree burglary. Police also charged his brother Tevin with the murder last week.

NC opens hearings on Progress-Duke Energy merger
