School counselor charged with murder faces federal charges

A Columbus County man already charged with murder now faces separate federal criminal charges. A federal grand jury indicted Michael Shawn Brown last week of 20 counts of wire fraud, two counts aggravated identity theft, two counts of arson and one count of making material false statements.

Wilmington shoppers enjoy North Carolina tax free weekend

video If you tried to visit your favorite stores this weekend you probably noticed a few more cars in their parking lots. With this weekend being a tax free holiday in North Carolina, stores were crowded with shoppers stocking up and trying to save a few bucks.

Pedestrian hit and killed

This weekend Wilmington saw it's second deadly pedestrian accident. Wilmington Police say 46 year-old Francisco Camey was hit by an SUV Saturday night while trying to cross the 4100 block of Market Street.

Sharks win playoff series over Swampdogs

In a must win game the Wilmington Sharks knocked off the Fayetteville Swampdogs on Saturday night in a first round Coastal Plain League baseball playoff game. This is the Sharks first playoff appearance since 2003. They're certainly making the best of it as they advance to round two at home on Monday.

Sharks outslug Swampdogs to even series

In a must win situation the Wilmington Sharks destroyed the Fayetteville Swampdogs on Friday to even the CPL playoff series at one game apiece. The deciding third game of the first round playoff series will be played Saturday night in Cumberland County.

S&P downgrades US credit rating

The US credit rating has been downgraded from AAA by S&P. This is the first time in the history of credit ratings that the US rating has been downgraded.
