ADA Holden, three others not invited back to work in January

READ MORE:

It's out with the old and in with the new for Bladen, Brunswick, and Columbus Counties as Jon David takes over as District Attorney. He replaces long-time DA Rex Gore in January.

David is getting ready to stack his legal staff with some fresh, new faces. David has yet to take office, but he's already working toward building a new team.

He decided not to ask four assistant district attorneys who worked for Gore to join his staff. The four, including Erin Holden, who's problems in the courtroom we documented earlier this year, are on paid leave until their last day January 3.

David said is looking forward to improving the justice system in the three county-area. He said it all starts with a strong legal team.

"If you want to make a fundamental change to an organization you start with the people who are there," he said. "What I've done since the election is embarked on a process of reviewing the current staff and looking forward to my future needs, and I've acted decisively on the information I have."

David will take his oath of office January 3.

He said he has spent a good deal of time speaking with Gore and his ADAs since the election.

David wants to take the office in a new direction. He said finding a team that can work together is key.

David is currently working to fill five ADA positions, because another of Gore's assistants resigned in October.

Will we see justice at last?

Congratulations Jon David! It is about time people voted Rex Gore out of office. A huge number of people are burning to ask if you plan to look at the case of Officer Davina Buff Jones. Jones was a 33-year-old officer who served less than a year on Bald Head Island. She was executed by one shot to the back of the head by her own service weapon. From this (and probably a desperate move to keep SBI from the island, from him and his friends) Gore determined she had committed suicide. After the Industrial Commission twice determined suicide was impossible and the U.S. Justice Department made the same determination, Gore still refused to change "suicide" to "homicide". The wound she suffered was in the center of the back of her head with a Glock; she was found in the field goal position, which would have been impossible for a suicide. So much of this case proves Gore wrong. Please, in the name of justice and all we hold dear, at least look into her case (October 22, 1999-Davina Jones-Bald Head Island). I am sure you will have enough to clean up after this man, but the poor Buff family has waited 11 plus years for his daughter’s name to be cleared. Loy Buff deserves to hear the truth, that she was murdered, before he passes. The family waited for a Republican to replace Gore knowing Davina stood a better chance at having her name cleared. It means as much, if not more, that no one believes Davina committed suicide. Thank you and congratulations.

GOOD!!
