WILMINGTON -- A local business that's been causing controversy is still up and running, but with an important change.
Last week some parents complained about guilty pleasures opening so close to the daycare their children attend on 23rd Street.
The City of Wilmington cited the adult novelties store for putting up signs advertising the business.
Guilty Pleasures was also cited for operating a retail store in a restricted area. Fifty-eight hours after the citations were issued the business owners complied and took down the signs that violated City ordinances.
They still have one week left to appeal the retail store issue.

There is room in this world
There is room in this world for everyone, regardless of their tastes. I doubt if the little kids would even know what the store sold if the parents did not make such a fuss about it. So what if an adult store is across the street from a school or a kindergarten or a daycare, or whatever. The adult business will have a lot less negative influence on the kids than the violent video games that most probably got for Christmas last year. Maybe it would be better if kids were introduced to the real world gradually than trying to hide all the things that some find offensive. There is more to this world than keeping your heads in the sand.
You're correct.....
You're correct. There is room for everyone. According to the law, the room for this place is anywhere zoned appropriately, and more than 1000' feet from a school or church.
The owners of this business lied on the permit, and should be held accountable.
Close Adult Store
Taking down the signs is great...But most residents of Wilmington would rather see the Store and it's contents gone...I know some of the ones who support it will want to put me down...But, You cant...I have a right to my opinion too...Plus My mama taught me to feel this way about Porn and filth, especially when it is just across the street from a daycare...
