Amazon.com doesn't like NC sales tax proposal

READ MORE:
RALEIGH -- Amazon.com has threatened to cut off sales commissions in North Carolina for referrals to the online retailer if a new tax proposal becomes law. Multiple media outlets reported Thursday the Legislature is considering a way to collect sales taxes for so-called "click-through" transactions. Web site operators posting links to the company about its products receive up to a 15 percent cut on sales. Lawmakers wants to use the arrangements to collect sales tax on the purchases. Amazon wrote a letter saying commissions would end if the provision became law. Patty Smith with Seattle-based Amazon said North Carolina would be violating the U.S. constitution. State Sen. David Hoyle said the state should collect sales tax on Internet sales just like it would for a brick-and-mortar store transaction. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

The state DOES collect sales tax

Every April 15th, the law requires us to pay sales tax on our out-of-state purchases. I pay exactly according to their chart. What's the problem? Why isn't that good enough for Hoyle? What mental midgets like him fail to understand is that every time they raise taxes, the pirate economy moves up a notch. Bartering becomes more prevalent, more people get paid under the table, un-documented capital gains are never reported. Worse, taxes rob people of money they would normally spend or invest. An even cursory view of history shows that the path to strong economic growth is cutting taxes....the idiots just have to remember to cut spending, too.... ...but alas, we now have a President and Congress who are committed to raising taxes and spending like drunken sailors. (The prior President and Congresses wanted to cut taxes while still spending like drunken sailors on their own pet projects.) The people are waking up too late. There may be some hope of containing the state loons, but the federal genie is never going back in that bottle. Both parties are dedicated to expanding their own form of tyrannical government. It's a horror that Obama is trying to nationalize the banking industry, but no more a Constitutional outrage than Bush's No Child Left Behind. I used to say that my grandchildren would witness the total economic collapse of the United States, possibly even my children. I now believe that my children will witness it....it may even take place in my lifetime.

SO

online merchants should verse themselves on tax law from EVERY STATE in the Union? BULL MALARKY! This quote comes to mind about our growing governments... The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers. Keep it up Washington and Raleigh...I think the masses are starting to wake from their slumber....
