WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Imagine spending months away at sea. Away from your friends. Away from your family.
That life is reality for men and women serving our country every day, but the naval destroyer Gravely is fully equipped to help sailors feel a little more at home.
The Navy's newest destroyer may look mean from the outside, but inside it's a different story. From the weightroom to the mess hall, where the sailors eat, crew members say life on the ship is busy but good.
When it comes time to hang out and relax, they say the best place to be is the game room.
"The ship's a very industrial environment, so then it comes to this room right here, it's a little slice of home that we don't really have," sailor Robert Hensley said.
