Amusement park will be back at Carolina Beach

It is official; Carolina Beach will soon be home to an oceanfront amusement park. Town Council approved the project at a public hearing Tuesday night. A Florida-based company recently presented its outline for the project to town leaders. Business owners have expressed interest, saying it would draw more people to the area. Mayor Joel Macon said the amusements would create more of family atmosphere in Carolina Beach. "I'm very positive and have a positive feeling about the amusements coming back to Carolina Beach,” said Macon. “I feel that's our roots and it can be a plus to the boardwalk." As many as 15 temporary rides could be part of Carolina Beach's boardwalk as soon as May. They would help town leaders decide if they should install a park permanently.

BRING BACK THE AMUSEMENT

I THINK IF THEY DO PUT AN AMUSEMENT PARK THERE.THEY SHOULD AT LEAST PUT MORE THAN 15 RIDES THERE.MAYBE HAVE ONE LONG BOARDWALK WITH 5 PIERS OF RIDES.THE AMUSEMENT PARK WOULD BE DONE ON A BOARDWALK.ADD SOME RESTAURANTS,A NIGHT CLUB AND SOME GIFT SHOPS.IT WOULD COST 5 DOLLARS FOR PARKING.NO TIME LIMIT PARKING.THIS IDEA I THINK WOULD DRAW A HUGE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE.OH YEAH AND BATHROOMS.

I spent 2 weeks every summer at Carolina Beach. We used to have such a good time going down to the boardwalk and shooting the fake guns and playing video games. And the waterslide right in the middle of it was AWESOME!! Bring it all back...families miss it!!

Bringing it back

FANTASTIC!!! When I began coming here many years ago there were rides, go carts & bumper cars. The boardwalk really went downhill when all these left because there was nothing to draw a FAMILY. I am so very happy about this and have emailed the info to many out of town friends and family. The "friends of the boardwalk" have done an incredible job in the complete turnaround I've seen at the boardwalk. With the movies by the lake and summer concert series CB has really become a family destination once again (and a whole lot of fun for mine!). Looking forward to another fun filled summer in CB.

I think its great there bringing the rides back i grew up here and i loved to go with my family down there. Its about time. It will bring more people to the island. Will be great for my kids and me. Thanks

My friends and I had the best summers at Carolina Beach! We loved the water slides most of all, I hope they bring it all back.

Did anyone forget

They tear buildings down and promise a change and this is it. What about the waterslide that was tore down.... This did not work before but possibly now that there are a couple of nice bars/restaurants opening - It could. I remember when the putt putt was in great shape along with the puppet shows... maybe one day we will get fun back at the best beach in NORTH CAROLINA...

I think it is a fantastic idea! The beach experience is supposed to be fun and exciting. The addition of the park will not only bring fun, but jobs and many consumers also! Hoorah!!!!
